When teaching the days of the week take particular care with the pronunciation of Tuesday and Thursday which students can easily confuse because they sound quite similar (and we tend not to notice cause of the strong meaning association we've managed to acquire). Also the pronunciation of Wednesday can be a problem because of the spelling, and the consonant cluster /ndz/ that results from it being pronounced as two syllables, not three
When teaching the days of the week you can :
- hand out phonetic script in paper slips to take home or stick on a scrapbook
- have students repeat chorally the days of the week
- bring a calendar to the lesson to help with the presentation or review of the days of the week
- have students tell which days of the week are busy and which are the weekend
